Vintage Griffith-Blucher Cowboy Boots-6 or 6 1/2

We were fortunate to find a vintage pair of Griffith-Blucher boots! Griffith-Blucher has been making boots one pair at a time since 1915. Their cowboy boots are legendary and have been worn by the likes of Tom Mix and John Wayne with the finest of their boots costing up to $2400. This beautiful pair of women’s handmade boots appears to be Style No.100 in the Griffith-Blucher online catalog. They describe the boot as “French calf vamps, calfskin tops with 3 rows of stitching on the design, with round toes”. The all leather boot is dark brown with dark chocolate-brown tops and cream colored stitching. The pattern on the boot is floral. The pulls that help you get the boots on are striped with navy, red, green, and yellow. Inside each boot is a sewn label (see photos) that says “Shop Made Expressly For Dorothy C., Griffith-Blucher Boot Co., Fairfax, Okla.”. There is a number stamped in each boot which is 12-232 (I don’t know exactly what that means). The inside of the boot is very clean and is lined with brown and yellow leather. The boots are in excellent vintage condition, the leather is soft and supple, and the heels show only a little wear, and the soles are in really great condition. On the uppers, the only sign that these have been worn are the creases across the top of the foot and some light scuffing on the back of the heels which adds to the vintage look of the boots.

SIZE: because these boots were custom made for Dorothy C., there is no size stamped in the boots. I wear a 7 to 7 ½ boot and can wear this pair without socks, but they are very snug over the top of the foot, but the width through the ball of the foot is very comfortable. I estimate the boots would fit a 6 to 6 ½ foot comfortably. Because there is no official size in the boots, I’ve measured them in a variety of ways – PLEASE MEASURE YOUR FOOT or A BOOT you normally wear and compare your measurements to those that follow.

LENGTH, this is the measurement of the actual leather boot above the sole, toe to heel: 11 inches
WIDTH, measurement taken on bottom of the sole across the ball of the foot: 3 ½ inches
WIDTH across the top of the boot at the ball of the foot (from sole to sole): 4 inches
HEEL, measurement from ground to where leather starts: 2 ¼ inches
HEIGHT, measurement from top of sole to top of shaft: 13 ½ inches
CALF, measurement around fullest part of calf: 13 ½ inches
