Vintage Hedy Weitz Dress~Hostess 1950's Delight~EXC

This is a stunning dress ~ hard to capture all the detail and the wonderful fabric in photos. I discovered this at an estate sale and just had to have it and now I'm sharing it with you on ebay!

The original Hedy Weitz tags are in the dress. It says it is a size 11. It has fully lined and in excellent condition as far as we can tell. We have not found any flaws, rips, tears, stains, etc.

It is what my mom calls a "hostess dress", one of those dresses worn in the early 1950's when you had friends over for cocktails. I am uncertain what the fabric is, perhaps a heavy weight cotton, perhaps a silk type. It reminds me of the vintage chintz fabrics...heavy, smooth and silky to the touch. It's heavy and the entire dress is fully lined. It's a wonderful golden color and looks so elegant.

It has three quarter length sleeves. There are deep pleats front and back from the waistline. There are two hidden pockets, too. At the waist is a deep "V", front and back with detail. There are 9 button frogs down the front but the buttons have been removed.

It appears that there is a layer of horsehair for exquisite fit and fall of the dress in between the lining and the outer fabric in the skirt area.

Measuring from the waist area to the hem is about 38" plus a 2" hem. From shoulder to waist area measures about 17". Across the front of the dress at the waist area is approximately 14", underarm to underarm across the front measures about 18" without stretching the fabric.


Absolutely a unique and rare dress and in excellent condition. Whether you collect vintage clothes or just love wearing vintage styles, this would be a terrific addition to your wardrobe.
