The Venona Story. By: Robert L. Benson.

On February 1, 1943, the U. S. Army's Signal Intelligence Service, a forerunner of NSA, initiated a small, highly secret program, later codenamed VENONA.  Its purpose was to analyze and possibly exploit encrypted Soviet diplomatic communications. The Signal Intelligence Service had accumulated these messages since 1939 but had not studied them previously.  This comprehensive publication is a consolidation of six individual brochures previously issued on VENONA. It includes Soviet atomic bomb espionage; New York, Washington, San Francisco and Mexico City KGB messages sent between 1942-1945; GRU New York and Washington messages and Washington Naval GRU messages; and KGB and GRU messages from Europe, South America and Australia.  The VENONA program ran for 37 years (1943-1980) with many KGB cryptographic systems solved and their spies identified and prosecuted. The cryptanalysts are recognized and their accomplishments described. It is an excellent publication with an amazing amount of fascinating case histories and more than 30 photographs of both the bad guys and the good guys.  This is truly a must have for those collecting NSA memorabilia.  There is No Reserve on this item. Please email me with any questions. Winning buyer agrees to pay final bid amount plus shipping, handling and insurance cost if insurance is desired.  Thank you for looking and good luck with your bidding.
