1986 US Liberty Two Coin Proof Set

The US Mint issued this two-coin proof set to celebrate the 1986 centennial of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Immigration Center. From the Certificate of Authenticity, “The silver dollar features the Statue as a beacon to immigrants, and Ellis Island as a gateway to America. The half-dollar coin commemorates the contributions of immigrants to our Nation’s heritage and achievements.” The dollar is .9 fine coin silver and the half dollar is nickel clad copper (traditional content for US half dollar coinage). Both coins bear the San Francisco “S” mint mark. The coins are in their original, never-opened plastic capsules, blue velvet satin-lined box with all CofA documentation. The blue slip case shows some slight wear. Everything else is in the same pristine condition as when we received the coins from the mint in 1986.
