The coin is set on strong double thickness (Hand plied) card. Individually produced. I have other designs and other British coins, (Gifts with a difference,) listed :- This is now mainly a hobby and I list just a few a day but I have collected and sold coins, particularily lucky coins for occasions since the late 60's. 50th Birthday The 1959 Birthyear Sixpence . The "Lucky Tanner" A good old Sixpenny Bit on little card as described below plus a printed History card. You will probably find the Year card is as important to the Birthday Boy or Girl as the Lucky Sixpence. -- Memories !!! What a wonderful, unusual, but traditional and extra special gift and Birthyear reminder. In nice collectable condition for the year. For the very special 50th Birthday or just for luck.!!! (Sixpences were regarded as lucky historically). Collectable. A reminder of a special year. The sixpence is set on a printed card inside a 2"x 2" P.V.C collecting pouch. The pouch has peelable adhesive on the reverse so it can be attached. Usually inside a Birthday card of your own choice as a really nice surprise extra gift !!! This coin minted by Royal Mint. (When money was money) The sixpence has been regarded as Lucky for hundreds of years. So much so that in 1967 when we went over to the pretend money ! We had S.O.S stickers on our cars. "SAVE OUR SIXPENCE" That popular !!! A brief History of the sixpence :- The sixpence was first introduced 1551. It quickly became a very popular coin. Silver has always been regarded as "lucky" And had the power to keep evil spirits and suchlike away. Particularly in times of importance in peoples lives. Birthdays, Weddings particularly, Christmas (Sixpence in the Christmas pud', New Year, Halloween, Births etc. etc.. At times of Marriage for example it was customary for the Lord of the Manor to give the Bride from the Estate a SILVER present. This became the traditional custom of giving the Bride a SILVER sixpence for her Slipper to wear on her Wedding Day. Sixpences were minted in Fine Silver, changing to .500 fine in 1920 and to Cupro Nickel in 1947. They were then minted and in general circulation until that dreaded day in 1967. Low start and low post and package. The buyer will receive this coin or one in similar/better condition. I am a collector and gaurantee that the coins are as described and authentic.
