Up for sale: a nice Konica Minolta Maxxum 28-100mm D f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens (Minolta Maxxum / Sony Alpha lens mount). Comes with original caps and hood. This lens is the newer 8-pin version that conveys extra lens distance information to the camera for more accurate flash metering (though it works just fine on all Maxxum cameras - the older ones will just ignore the extra data). This lens was the kit lens to several Minolta Maxxum film cameras. Being a kit lens, you might think it was low quality and takes poor pictures, but this is not at all the case. It is amazingly sharp, and takes excellent pictures, as you can see below, and works nicely on the Sony Alpha digital cameras.

This lens will work on any Minolta Maxxum film camera, as well as any Minolta or Sony dSLR, including the Minolta Maxxum 7D and 5D, and the Sony A100, A200, A230, A300, A330, A350, A380, A500, A550, A700, A850 and A900. It is a full frame lens, which means that it is forward compatible with any future Sony full frame dSLR (including the new A850).

Buying a lens on eBay can be a bit of hit or miss. Most listings do not show you enough detail in the pictures for you to determine the condition of the lens, and many sellers do not know cameras very well. The glass is clean. I checked it very closely front and back with a flashlight and I found no flaws. The aperture is snappy and free of oil. The barrel shows light wear. This is a lightly used and completely functional lens that takes excellent pictures (see below).
