Up for sale: an very nice example of the highly regarded Promaster (made by Tamron) 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Macro zoom lens in Minolta Maxxum/Sony Alpha mount. It has a reliable, and durable feel in your hand and features a metal lens mount. It was made in Japan. It is amazingly sharp, and takes excellent pictures, as you can see below, and works nicely on the Sony Alpha digital cameras, where due to the crop factor it works as a 105-450mm zoom.

This lens will work on any Minolta Maxxum film camera, as well as any Minolta or Sony dSLR, including the Minolta Maxxum 7D and 5D, and the Sony A100, A200, A230, A300, A330, A350, A380, A500, A550, A700, A850 and A900. It is a full frame lens, which means that it is forward compatible with any future Sony full frame dSLR (including the new A850).

Buying a lens on eBay can be a bit of hit or miss. Most listings do not show you enough detail in the pictures for you to determine the condition of the lens, and many sellers do not know cameras very well. The glass is pristine. From the day it was new it has been protected by a UV filter (no included) so the glass is flawless. The aperture is snappy and free of oil. The barrel shows almost no wear. This is a used but completely functional lens that takes excellent pictures (see below).
