I purchased this unit new from MovieStuff* (www.moviestuff.tv) and converted seventeen 400-foot super 8mm reels and ten 50-foot reels of 8mm films to digital, about 7,300 feet in total (about 10 hours of video which probably took about 25-30 hours of machine time to do the transfers). The unit worked flawlessly and the results were incredible; I immediately inundated my family with beautiful DVDs going back to the early 1960s. The peace of mind that the digitizing of these old movies has given us is priceless. We have the data backed up on hard drives, DVDs and online! Being digitzed, it should be easy (at least relatively) to transfer this data to whatever new media comes along in the future.
The WorkPrinter-XP* in this ad, shown in the photos below, did not include the latest MovieStuff Motor/LED upgrade. However, the unit has been shipped to MovieStuff where it is currently undergoing the upgrade, as well as a complete refurbishment. The cost of this upgrade ($350) is paid by the seller, i.e., curlybones. To quote from the MovieStuff website, "During the upgrade, your unit will be disassembled and completely refurbished and relubricated to near-new condition". On behalf of the seller, MovieStuff has agreed to ship the unit directly to the winning bidder from its facilities, including a MovieStuff 90-day warranty on parts and labor. Please see the MovieStuff website for more details, http://moviestuff.tv/repair.html
The software (CineCap) required to transfer your films using a PC is sold by www.alternaware.com for $69.95. However, the owner of the CineCap software allows for the transfer of license, which I am willing to do. The license transfer requires me to send the name and email address of the winning bidder to the CineCap software owner and he will issue a new key code and send you the install program. For Mac owners, the MovieStuff website recommends CaptureMate sold by www.bensoftware.com. I have no license for CaptureMate so Mac owners are on their own.
If you visit the following link, http://www.moviestuff.tv/wp_xp.html, you will find that a new WorkPrinter-XP will cost you $1595 and because MovieStuff builds every unit to order there is a 45-60 day wait for delivery. The upgraded and refurbished unit offered herein will be shipped within 3 business days after receipt of winning bidder's payment, which must be made via PayPal. Shipping will be via FedEx Ground with insurance and tracking included. The shipping cost of $50 will be added to the invoice sent to the winning bidder.
The winner cannot return the unit for any reason since this could encourage someone to bid whatever amount it might take to win, transfer all their home movies and then return the unit for their money back. No returns, no refunds! Note that this is the same return policy as advertised by MovieStuff.
At http://moviestuff.tv/wp_xp.html, you will find more detailed information regarding the WorkPrinter-XP, which I will not repeat here, however it is highly recommended that you read the WorkPrinter-XP related information on the MovieStuff website before bidding. The website discusses the camcorder, memory, software, raid 0 and other essential requirements for optimum results with the WorkPrinter-XP. You should pay particular attention to the FAQs section, which is very detailed and extremely informative.
My reserve on this unit is about 75% of the cost of a new unit. If you have any questions, please email me before you bid. And, thanks for stopping by. __________________________
