An ORIGINAL antique 1876 map of The MIDDLE EAST and SOUTHWEST ASIA from McNally's Improved System of Geography Atlas. Each country is individually HAND WATERCOLORED. Much different from today, TURKEY extends all the way to Egypt and The Persian Gulf, IRAN is named PERSIA, GEORGIA is shown Independent, and BELOOCHISTAN is shown to the south of AFGHANISTAN. An inset map at the lower left shows a close-up of PALESTINE at the time.
