This Ajoite in Quartz comes from Messina mine, Transvaal, South Africa. The mine has been closed and flooded since 1992 so this is an extremely hard stone to find. A totally fluke accident happened not too long ago near the mine which uncovered another pocket of these rare crystals! Road construction/improvement was taking place and one of the trucks went off the road and fell into a ditch. As they dug it out a small pocket of these amazing crystals was discovered!! My supplier bought almost the total contents of this pocket! I brought home a couple of these glorious clusters with me from the Denver shows to share here.

This is an awesome cluster! There are five good sized crystals with beautiful Ajoite phantoms and many tiny crystals that also have phantoms! It displays nicely in two different positions.  There is one crystal that is broken but the rest that surround it are nicely terminated.  The broken crystal is showing signs of self healing. There are small clear deposits on the faces and prism sides of several of the crystals.  The single crystal at the top of the cluster has had two of the faces eroded off exposing the phantom.  Tiny nooks on the bottom have tiny crystals with golden healer coloring. The crystals are dotted with dark inclusions and a coouple of the phantoms are brushed with it also.   There are some very minor empathy dings but nothing to mar the exquisite beauty or energy of this cluster!!
