1973 first edition BELL RANCH As I Knew It. Signed by renowned illustrator Robert Lougheed.
Excerpt from dust jacket leaflet: This is a book about an extraordinary piece of land in northeastern New Mexico; its vastness, beauty and mystical hold on the people who owned and worked it.
The Bell Ranch legend can be traced from Coronado’s hoofprints to today’s methods of modern cattle ranching. It’s a story of success and sweat, authored by the hundreds who have lived and toiled on this stretch of southwestern serenity, and put into words here by the late George F. Ellis.
George Ellis managed the Bell Ranch for almost a quarter century and was one of but six men who have served as general manager of the ranch in its 150 year history. During his tenure, Ellis blended innovation with common sense and hard work to create a remarkable milestone in livestock management.
Very interesting book with lots of very nice foldout illustrations in very good condition
While it may appear in the one picture that it is also signed by George Ellis I assure you it is not. It is a printed signature. Only the Lougheed signature is hand signed.
The book is in very good condition with with very minor shelf wear with pristine and crisp pages, no folds, etc. Would be very hard to find a 36 year old book in this good of condition.
