Vintage Weiss Topaz/Aurora Borealis Rhinestone Earrings

Vintage Weiss:  Neiss ... at half the price!  Aurora Borealis & Topaz Rhinestone Ear Clips

Artfully designed in the 1960s, these dainty and tasteful Weiss clip earrings are classic examples of the era's exquisite costume pieces.  The design of these earrings incorporates 18 small round Aurora Borealis stones that create an abstract flower … with a slightly larger topaz rhinestone prong-set in the center.  Add to that tiny gold-toned leaves and the result is charming.  These measure slightly less than 1 inch in diameter.

These are (obviously) great for "dress-up", but I love wearing them (somewhat incongruously) with jeans.  Signed "Weiss" and in excellent vintage condition, these belong on your lobes!  Bid well.  Strut smart! 

Background information:  Weiss jewelry began making exquisite designs in the 1940s, and continued for more than 30 years before closing the business around 1971.   Weiss designs were also purchased by Hollywood Jewelry Co and Weiss applied the company signature to those pieces as well.  Located in New York, Weiss created line of costume jewelry and also made high quality collectible items.  The first Weiss hallmark was "WEISS" in block print; later came "Weiss" in script and "Albert Weiss" or "A W Co." with the W designed as a crown.  The later mark was introduced sometime in 1951.  Because Weiss' output was nowhere near as large as that of Trifari or Coro, their pieces are rarer, more distinctive, and highly sought after today.
