A collection of 22 old rubber stamps. The stamps include "Retained on board", "Scullion", "Asst Steward", "Baker" as shown etc. They probably came off a ship, and this MAY have been The Alcantara, a Royal Mail ship serving South America, in the 1950's. I travelled on such a ship as a child in 1954 and these might have been given to me by the Purser's office - but I cannot absolutely guarantee this! Alternatively you could simply re-use them - but this might be a pity. Any information or suggestions as to where they may have come from, or other genuine enquiries, would be welcome. They weigh around 600 gm in total, so postage cost reflects this. |
