Binding: Full leather bindings of Deep Scarlet polished Calf. Buttery smooth & supple. The bindings remain unsigned, however they are definately the work of one of the masters of the 19th century. They look to be the work of Tout. 5 raised spine bands per volume with gilt accents. Bright gilt paneling as well as bright decorative gilt devices in spine compartments. Each spine sports 3 contrasting Persian Blue/Green leather spine labels. The are all present and bright,. Gilt ruling in triplicate to front and back boards, with each corner anchored with a gilt altered fluer-de-lis type design. Bright gilt dentelles. AEG. Hinge repairs to front & back hinge on volume III, as well as front hinge on volume II. Decorative endpapers which are free from markings.
