All Panasonic S1 series televisions come with Neo PDP with full motion 1080 lines resolution, 40,000:1 contrast ratio, with 3 HDMI inputs. Native Contrast Ratio (40,000: 1) The contrast ratio is a measure of a display system, defined as the ratio of the luminance of the brightest color (white) to that of the darkest color (black) that the system is capable of producing. A high contrast ratio is a desired aspect of any display, but with the various methods of measurement for a system or its part, remarkably different measured values can sometimes produce similar results. 1080 lines of resolution The "full 1080 lines of motion resolution" means that when there is action going on in the video, the TV is able to display all the content accurately. This is a subtle point, because most people think 1080p means 1080 lines of resolution; however, most TVs released before 2009 while claiming 1080p resolution didn't actually display all 1080 lines of resolution when there was activity on the screen. This full motion resolution should result in a crisper picture than found on previous Panasonic displays. Full HD 1080p with Neo PDP In addition to the meaning of 1080p as a display resolution, 1080p is also used to describe video equipment capabilities. Use of 1080p and the closely related 1080p labels in consumer products may refer to a range of capabilities. For example, video equipment that up scales to 1080p takes lower resolution material and reformats it for a higher resolution display. This is Panasonic's marketing name for their new plasma technology introduced in 2009. Specifically, Panasonic claims that they focused on improving black levels, contrast ratio, and motion resolution. 3-HDMI inputs This is a new interface standard for high definition televisions. HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface. If you are looking for an high definition television, it should have at least one of these connectors. If you want to connect multiple HD devices, such as a cable box and a high definition DVD player, look for a television with multiple HDMI connections. Features included:
