Post Office sorting shelves--dove tailed solid oak--HEAVY. Brass plate reads "U.S. P.O. Dept. 335." Big 42" tall by 48" wide. Shelves have grooves cut for metal separating sleeves (not included). This genunine U.S. Post Office Dept. antique was used in the post office at the White Plains, Ga. Post Office from pre-1950 until the early 1970's. Was then used as a book case in the home of the retired post master and passed to his grand-daughter--the present owner. Three of the original shelves were removed and are lost. Unrestored original finish. Stains, drilled holes, and chips are present. This piece has worked hard in its life yet remains sturdy and strong! Could be restored or used as is.
