GOLDMINE GRADING STANDARDS

MINT Perfect, flawless, legitimate sellers seldom use this grade. (Should appear to be perfect with no; scuffs / scratches, blotches / stains, labels / writing, tears / splits) MINT MEANS PERFECT

NEAR MINT Usually the highest grade. Records from the 50's and 60's in this grade are truly rare. (Otherwise mint but has one or two inconsequential flaws that doesn't affect play)

VG++ Beautiful collectable condition, only the slightest of wear. certainly no deep scratches. (Cover should be close to perfect, minor signs of wear or age just becoming evident, slight ring wear)

VG+ Great condition, well cared for. (Has been played very infrequently or carefully, may be slight paper scuffs or some of the luster on vinyl lost, a light scratch that doesn't affect play would be acceptable to most collectors)

VG Still good condition, record shows visual signs of playing such as loss of luster, light scratches, groove wear and spindle trails. Some background noise may be present but should not overwhelm the musicale experience. (Usually a cover is VG when one or two problems are evident; ring wear, split seams, bent corners , loss of gloss, stains ETC.)

VG- Generally not collectable condition unless it is a super rare record. Dealers avoid records in this shape or below.

G "Good" Good really does not mean good! In quite poor condition, should play all the way through without skipping. (Well played with significant background noise) Cover has many flaws but shouldn't completely obliterate art work.
