Witches Fingers are a combination of Smoky Quartz with Rutile and sprinkled with Micas, Muscovite/Zinnwaldite, Magnetite, Sphalerite, Hematite and/or Actinolite. Because every Witches Finger Crystal is different, and the variety of other minerals that could be present in and on the crystal is many, mineral identification almost has to be taken on a one by one basis. They are craggy, "knarly", odd looking crystals, but you will fall in love with them the minute you hold one!!
Witches Fingers Quartz are potent crystals!! They can be very high energy and also can be gentle and soothing. Energies can vary from crystal to crystal. They are amazing healers! They can be used for protection, in grids, or medicine pouches. Place them around the house to stabilize chaotic conditions in much the same way that Amethyst can be used to bring calm to an area. My Reiki friends are very drawn to this crystal! It has great potential working with Reiki for healing. I have a favorite Witches Fingers Crystal that I often take into dream time and find I have very insightful dreams as a result. They are definitely an aid to any dream work!
Witches Fingers have always been a very special crystal for me. I give them credit for guiding me into my eBay business, and bringing me a much closer relationship with all the beautiful Spirits that share this planet with us! My good friend Annie, wayneandannie, and I were the only ones offering these amazing crystals for a long time. There are a few other dealers now that offer them. I have offered them here at auction, and in my store every week since early 2004!!
These unique crystals are mined in an open pit mine in an extremely remote location in Zambia. The remoteness of the location and the political unrest in the area make it too dangerous for the miners to continue working and thus they have become very difficult crystals to find.
 
This Tabby Witches Fingers Quartz Crystal is just the right size to use as a pocket stone. It is very lightly packed with rutile, with dots of Mica on the sides.

"This NEW crystal emerges from the depths of the untamed bush of Zambia, an African country, just above Zimbabwe. The opaque quartz manifests itself in thin pencil like formations, of which the majority are double terminated.Hidden within the interior of the quartz are fine strands of white and yellow rutile, which gives added interest, as well as depth to the female crystal. The exterior of the quartz is "pock-marked with Actinolite which dots and forms nodules all over the crystals sides. Flecked within this are shiny pieces of Mica, bringing sparkle and magic to this mysterious energy.
The name came about when two South African men traveled up to Zambia, camping under the stars, living "bush style"... heading towards the diggings. There together with Zambian diggers they found the first crystal "as it emerged from the ground" said the one South African, "it was this thin, talon shaped mineral, covered in thick warts of Actinolite, with the Mica catching the harsh African sun, glinting off the crystal giving a magical appeal to the mineral. Witches Fingers, was the first and only thing that came to mind!"
In Africa, Witches or Songomas, as the local tribes call them, rule while instilling fear and respect amongst the villagers within their areas. Their magic is believed to cure, get rid of entities or attachments, bring rain for the crops and assist whoever in their various endeavors....we are hoping that the magic of the Witches Fingers is going to do the same for you!
The first time I held a large witches finger in my hand, I could immediately feel the crystal starting to activate, working and linking with my esoteric body. The crystal resonated flooding me with an all- encompassing energy that was hard to pinpoint, it was as if a generator had been switched on, activating my aura, and raising my vibration level. I noticed that after this interaction, for the following few days I felt extremely peaceful, focused, and at one with my surroundings. My thought patterns had cleared, and my sleeping patterns improved I definitely felt as if I was living in the "now".
