We are pleased to be offering this wonderful nine piece Gothic style oak dining room set to you today. Dating from the 1950's to 1960's, this set came over on a container from Belgium. This beautiful set consists of an oversize triple door Gothic style sideboard, a double Gothic door with stained leaded glass doors on top two piece china cabinet, a wonderful outside leg stretcher base checkerboard inlaid top quarter sawn oak draw leaf extension table and a beautiful set of six stylish chairs. The set is tiger sawn oak with the exception of the chairs and the table base. Sometimes these are done in beech, and are stained to blend in with the oak stain—which is done perfectly on this set!
The chairs have triple cut out horizontal slats, a cross stretcher in the front, a block foot turned front leg with sturdy cross stretchers and a spring loaded vinyl seat which is original and shows some holes and tears in the vinyl but can be easily replaced because they are slip seats. The components result in a great looking chair; they are very tight and sturdy. The set consists of six stylish side chairs that measure overall 18 inches wide, 16 inches deep, 37 inches to the top of the post, and 20 inches high to the seat.
The next item is the sturdy dining table, which features a multiple molded edge that gives you the impression of double thickness, when it is really just a molding, and the top is all checkerboard tiger sawn oak with an insert of what we call checkerboard tiger sawn veneer pattern. Pull out the draw leaves, and you will see that even these are tiger sawn oak, and as is often typical with this style of table, the leaves do not have the checkerboard patchwork design. The table base is the same type of wood as the chairs, which is beech. They are stained in a wonderful medium walnut stain, or medium dark oak color. They are very stout and sturdy with a cross stretcher base, and four legs where you could actually jump up and down on the table and not bother it. It is a gorgeous table. Closed up, it measures 55 inches long, 38 inches deep, and a height of 30 inches. Then, you pull out from the end a draw leaf of tiger sawn oak that is 22 inches long, so when it is fully opened, the table becomes an amazing 100 inches long. It is quite the table, in a beautiful medium oak stain finish which brings out the gorgeous grains of the veneer, good looking all by itself.
The next item is the oversize sideboard. It has three Gothic carved doors on the base, and has what appears to be a drawer above the small door that is simply a faux drawer front. This sideboard comes with keys that seem to work good in the locks, but we cannot guarantee locks, as old locks are usually ornery and unpredictable. There is a nice silver finish on the hardware, and when you open the three doors, on the left hand door, there is a drawer that pulls out that has a shelf above it. In the center compartment there is a shelf, and on the right hand compartment there is also a drawer that pulls out with a shelf on top that is all oak, and of course the drawers are all dovetailed. The sideboard sits upon a block and spindle ball foot leg that is very stout and sturdy. The top is routed all the way around with a bevel edge and has a great looking back splash with a shield design right in the center. The whole case is table sawn oak, which is stunning, and the finish is a beautiful medium oak stain that looks just great. The overall size is 87 inches long, 23 inches deep, the height of the base is 42 inches, and the back splash adds another 9 inches for an overall height of 51 inches. Fantastic looking sideboard has a lot to offer: the carvings, the stylish pewter or nickel hardware, the sturdy oak, and of course all keys make for one good looking sideboard.
Last but not least is the step back two piece leaded glass door Gothic china closet. This great looking unit is all tiger sawn oak throughout the case, has shield design leaded glass with stained glass in the center on both sides, the base cabinet has carved columns with pewter hinges, comes with a key, and has Gothic panel doors. Also note that behind the panel designs, there is same material that is on the seat covers. It gives you the impression of like a window that you are looking through, it is pretty neat. The base cabinet has stout and sturdy legs on a stretcher base, carved columns, dome panels on the doors, and a forty five degree double edge top on the top of the base cabinet. The top section has two stained glass doors with two shelves for storage, carved columns on both sides, and a molded top. This good looking unit comes with a key (but we cannot guarantee the locks for the same reason listed above), and in its original medium oak stain finish. The size of the cabinet is 52 inches wide at the base, 18 inches deep, and 32 inches high to the top of the base, and 73 inches overall height. The leaded door cabinet itself is 41 inches wide, 13 inches deep and 40 inches high—a great looking cabinet with a fantastic looking finish!
This set is all ready to go into the home, and is a great value for the price. You are bidding on 6 chairs, a wonderful checkerboard design dining table, one large carved sideboard and a beautiful leaded doors china cabinet, all for one-money.
