"This amusing work, written by the author of the celebrated ‘Life in London,’ was first published in 1825. As it has been out of print a number of years – for it is one of the few of Pierce Egan’s books not reprinted – we have been tempted to re-issue it in a similar form to the original edition, with all the numerous illustrations faithfully facsimiled and coloured by hand." (Printer’s Note).
