• Digital Pointfinder

• Trapezium function
The trapezium function is used to quickly and safely determine roof slopes and frontage areas, for example. You only need to take three 1 measurements, and the result appears on the display.

If access to the object to be measured is limited and measurements can only be taken from one position, then this is no problem – thanks to the integral tilt sensor. This trapezium function can
also be used to quickly and safely determine roof slopes and frontage areas.

• Tilt measurement
The tilt sensor measures tilts up to ± 45° and a typical use is for determining the pitch of a roof. When measuring tilts, the instrument should be held in the horizontal position (± 10°).

• Horizontal distance
The tilt measurement allows you to determine the desired horizontal distance, even if the object cannot be directly targeted. This is particularly useful when obstructions like walls or hedges stand in the line of sight.

• Triangle function
The triangle function helps you quickly and efficiently to arrive at the area of a multi-cornered room. Divide the room into imaginary triangles. Then use three measurements to determine the areas of
each of the triangles, which you can add together as you proceed. Finally all you have to do is read off the result.

Frequently Asked Questions on Leica DISTO Units:

Q. Why are laser distance meters better than ultra sonics?
A. Leica DISTOs measure with laser – exactly and over hard to reach areas.
Ultra sonics measure with sound waves, which spread out conically and give only an indicative result as opposed at an accurate measurement. Sonics are affected by objects that appear within the measurement cone and do not operate well outdoors. Normal measurement range of an ultra sonic instrument is 20 m while a Leica DISTO measures up to 200 m with high accuracy.

Q. Is the laser beam harmful?
A. No. Our instruments are laser class II. Under normal circumstances your eyes are protected by aversion responses such as the blink reflex. 

Q. What advantage does the Power Range Technology bring?
A. Simple: while other instruments may measure up to 20 m or at best up to 40 m, the Power Range Technology lets you easily measure up to twice the distance.

Q. When do I need the Pythagorean function?
A. Whenever distances cannot be measured directly, e.g. if a target point is missing such as with a flat roof.
