| This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by Paul Oakenfold. Personnel: Merle Forbes (vocals). Audio Mixer: Andy Gray . Audio Remixer: Paul Davis . Recording information: Powl Studios. Arranger: Kevin Griffiths. Featuring the seamless mixing skills that have given him international recognition in the dance music underground, Oakenfold has crafted yet another in his series highlighting some of the more progressive strains of house music. The progressive trance style that has become Oakenfold's stock in trade, fuses pastoral symphonic soundscapes with arpeggiated synth passages reminiscent of European electronic artists such as Vangelis and Tangerine Dream. Indeed, much of the track selection on PERFECTO PRESENTS focuses less on house music's typically rigid four on the floor kick drum patterns, and more on building an ambient soundscape suitable as a soundtrack for sensory immersion. In a surprise turn from the genre, Oakenfold mixes in some rather unusual selections including Dead Can Dance, Vangelis , and even Led Zeppelin, reminding the listener that inspired and creative DJing can come from the most unlikely sources. | |
