In this fight-in-flight game based on the smash-hit movie, you play as Maverick, an up and coming rookie out to prove himself. A variety of gameplay modes are available, and they include strafing missions, escort, low-altitude reconnaissance, intercept, and combat air patrols. You begin training with the essential and instructive missions at Miramar. Your goal is to complete your Top Gun training by maintaining a positive point total, a decent number of enemy kills, and reasonably low missile usage. When you feel up to the challenge, you'll advance and engage in "real" combat in theatres of war over Cuba, Korea, and finally Libya. Thankfully you have your co-pilot Merlin at your side, offering advice as Libya is the most difficult scenario and will test all your turn-and-burn daredevil skills in 11 fearsome missions.
