In this updated and expanded version of her previous book (LJ 7/77), Westin provides tips for newcomers in the field of genealogy, addressing the basic processes of gathering and compiling family history data. Including a new chapter on "Finding Your Roots in Cyberspace," the book covers methods of finding information in libraries and government records both in the United States and abroad, gathering information from relatives, compiling health histories, and publishing family histories. Several appendixes include addresses for libraries and genealogical societies, map sources, major ports of entry to the United States, and a list of the Mayflower passengers. Although the book is intended as an introduction, it fails to cover a number of methods and sources to a depth that ensures sound and successful research. Except for one new chapter, updated addresses, and web site listings, much of what appears in this work is taken from the first edition. Unfortunately, this also includes the first edition's errors. The book also suffers from a lack of discussion of several important works published since the late 1970s, especially P. William Filby's work on passenger and immigration lists. An outstanding reference book, The Source (LJ 9/15/84), is also ignored. One source Westin does suggest for further Spanish research is a periodical, the Spanish-American Genealogical Helper which ceased publication in 1982. Description: CLOTHING ~I measure across with item flat, not stretched for the bust,waist and hips and lengths [and underarm to cuff for sleeve length].  All items have been previously owned, been owned with great care.  Not all items are from a smoke free/pet free home.  Please look closely at the measurement since sizes vary from brand to brand.  If more information is needed PLEASE ask before buying. I try to list any details that you would need to know about the item.  I am not perfect and have made mistakes before - I always try to get the best measurements and descriptions as possible.

Description:  BOOKS/MAGAZINES -All books/magazines are in used condition and read- any/all could have a smudge(s) and/or bent page(s) or be written in/on. Most magazines do have address labels attached to cover. I try to give the best description possible but I am not perfect do mistakes from time to time.  If you have any questions about an item please contact me.  I can email additional pictures upon request. Media mail is VERY slow so I highly suggest paying a little extra for priority mail. Send me a message before paying if you choose to adjust invoice for priority mail cost.

Payment: Payment needs to be made using PayPal. Payment is expected within 7 days end of auction.  If payment is not received, an unpaid item dispute will be opened.  If payment still is not made, there will be an unpaid items strike given to the nonpaying bidder.

Shipping:  I ship by USPS [usually Priority- if you prefer a USPS shipping method that is different than the listed method please message so I can adjusted the invoice].  I do not own multiples of each item. I can't just send a new one, if an item gets broken/damaged  by the shipping service.   I sell individual items that cannot be replaced.  I package items carefully, but sometimes the mail is extremely disrespectful and careless to packages and this is BEYOND MY CONTROL. If in the event an item gets damaged or broken I can only offer a refund (minus shipping) or exchange for another item that I currently have listed of equal value. Shipping includes packaging and insurance in price along with the price to have the item(s) shipped. Please understand that the extra cost is to protect both [the buyer and the seller]  from loss due to shipping damages.

Returns:  NO returns or refund......... EXCEPT in very extreme cases  and then with no refund on the shipping costs!
