Most Important Piece of Poker Trivia EVER collected. This is the FIRST EVER Published Article or Book about Texas Hold Em poker. This
article was in a mainstream consumer coffee table magazine, one of the
top selling magazine subscriptions of all time, but most copies have
been lost to the trash heap. I found out about this from another avid poker book collector. He originally sold me one of his two copies for over $200 many years ago, and once, I was offered a trade for a $10,000 seat in a poker tournament if I could get 10 copies for everyone at the final table, but I never could pull that together. Over the past many years, I have managed to collect several more, and now I find myself unemployed and so I need to sell them (along with my complete 100 volume historical poker book collection which I am selling together to a collector, but I do have extras that I will sell on eBay later). The article is THREE large format pages, PLUS the cover, so it fits perfectly in a frame for a poker room, a perfect Father's Day gift for avid or professional poker player. Also, if you are hosting a poker tournament, this is a PERFECT prize to give to your top winners, a bit of history I am sure they never heard anything about, because I used to write and cover the poker industry for a major magazine and I never met a major player who knew anything about this article. In the late 1960s, the author predicted the poker craze that would crescendo at the end of the century when he wrote: "I believe the game is a major event in the history of poker and I predict it will replace stud for the rest of the century." He also wrote, "At home, I went through my poker library. None of my books covered Hold me or any game like it." On an interesting note, the author does not mention the name "Texas Hold 'Em" in the article itself, but the editor made an introductory note including "Texas Hold 'Em" as one of possible names in his preface to the article. Also, the preface makes mention of "America's 47 million poker addicts who bet an estimated $45 billion per year." |
