Hello my name is Lore & you may notice a Pitbull in this listing, I've named him "Lucky" because he is lucky to be alive! What
I am about to tell you may be hard to read, but I have to tell his
story. On 8-19-09 while driving to work, this poor dog was struck by a
pick up truck! He made several attempts to get up out of the road away
from all the other cars (mind you it's rush hr traffic) this dog
finally after about 7/8 attemps got up and crawled across three lanes
of traffic onto the sidewalk. I watched in horror from my truck &
immediately pulled over! See I had no idea it was a pit, I just knew it
was a dog and I am a HUGE dog person, so I hopped out of my truck and
as I got closer to him is when I realized it was a pitbull! I hesitated
for half a second, because I have always been afraid of pitbulls, but I
figured if he bites me, it's a chance I am willing to take, so I go
over to him & softly talk to him & put my hand out for him to
smell me, he rests his mouth in my one hand, I take my other hand &
put it under his chin and that's when the blood started to come! I was
in complete panic mode thinking this poor animal is going to die right
in my arms! I pray to God to please help me & that's when another
car pulled in behind mine, it was a young girl, a stranger, someone I
have never met or seen before & she says she saw him get hit &
wants to know what she can do to help me, so she calls the police &
they contact animal control. It takes animal control over an hour to
come, so while we wait with this injured dog who is yelping in pain and
bleeding & in extreme pain, we talk to him, tell him help is on its
way & to hold on! I go to my truck & find a jacket & cover
him with it, he looks at me with such tenderness in his eyes as if to
say thank you. I put ice cubes in my hand for him to lick because he
wouldn’t drink out of my cup & he takes a few licks! He is
trembling & me & this complete stranger are crying. Animal
control comes, we help her get him on a stretcher & into the truck,
she puts an iv in him & tells me he won't make it. Now I am out
right crying like as if he is one of my own personal dogs. I cry the
whole way to work. I call and check on him like every couple hours
& they say he is stable & is on pain medication. The next
morning I call & they give me the news. Lucky has multiple
fractures throughout his pelvic on both sides, he is a mess but can
still stand but barely. I check on him every day to see if his owner
has claimed him, but of course he/she does not. The pound tells me that
if he is not claimed by Saturday 8-22-09 9:36am he will be put down or
I can adopt him! So of course what do I do, I have adopted him, but
only to spare his life. He will be going into Pit Rescue once I get him
& then in for surgery. This Pit Rescue "Sun Valley Dog Rescue" has
no funds to pay for his medical but will foster him until he is better
then find him his forever home:) So now my mission is to get as many
donations as possible to help pay for his medical which will be in the
thousands! So all of my listings will be for "Lucky’s" medical
expenses, so please take a look at everything I have & know that
your sale will go straight to Lucky! If you want to make an additional
donation, please contact me and I will give you the name/phone# of the
vet & who to make it out to so that your donation goes straight to
Lucky! The
pictures you see in this listing is Lucky at the pound! Me, my husband
and son went today 8-22-09 to visit with him & take some pictures
to show people just how sweet this dog is & yes he is a pitbull! In
one of the pictures I am holding up a red jacket & he is smelling
it because it was the jacket I used to cover him with! You will notice
in one of the pictures also how he is lying down & when he saw me,
he got up & hobbled over to me wagging his tail & giving me
kisses through the fence! He remembered me. If you would like
additional information about Lucky please let me know. I have video too
that I can email you if you like. I just want Lucky to get the best
care and to be pain free than get adopted into a family that will love
him all the days of his beautiful life. Please help me. Thanks
for reading this lengthy listing. If you know of anyone who would be
interested in helping out Lucky, please send them this listing to read
and contact me if they would like to make a contribution to his medical. Thank you. |
