Paul Gavarni orig color litho "Histoire den Dire Deax"

Inherited from family art collector: thousands of original pieces and prints meticulously stored! 

This original hand colored lithograph by Paul Gavarni is titled "Histoire D'en Dire Deux."   Text in the lower margin reads, "Librairie nouvelle boul des Italiens 15; Par Gavarni; and Imp. Lemercier Paris."  Approximate Dimensions: 7 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches, with full margins. This piece is on thick paper, and is hinged to a presentation portfolio.

Image History: Handwritten text from the previous owner reads, "A & B 1308 (iii)."  Otherwise, I am unaware if this piece is an original from the noted time period, or a reproduction from as late as the 1950's.

Image Condition: This image suffers from numerous large foxing dots both in the page margins, and a few witihin the outer mark that appear minimally in the image itself.

Artist's History: Paul (Sulpice-Guillaume Chevalier) Gavarni, born in Paris 13 Jan 1804. died 24 Nov 1866. Known as a watercolorist and lithographer who achieved fame for his "marvelous personification of the Parisian Spirit" (quoting Benezit).
