Navajo Native American Indian Rug Blanket Textile weave

This is a Extremely Well Woven serrated diamond / eye dazzler Navajo Rug made with earth tone / natural dye colors and very fine wools. A fine example of a NAVAJO WEAVING from the 1930-1950 range! A great looking rug with a mesmerizing pattern as intended by the weaver. This rug is made from expertly hand spun, hand carded and hand dyed wools which are holding to near original tone and vibrancy. The white and grey are hand spun and hand carded natural wool colors. The beige/yellow wool is hand spun, hand dyed with a natural vegetal dye. The black is hand spun black sheep's wool which looks like it may be over-dyed with black for consistency (solid black as night).

This rug has been in my collection since the 1970's and it is a very fine piece, one of those rugs you need to have in hand to truly appreciate and understand. The weave is tight and consistent creating a canvas effect, it is thin and refined, and the hand spun wools are incredibly consistent. This rug is probably from the Crystal Region / Trading Post.

The size of this rug is approximately 40" X 29", with a warp of 12 and a weft of about 32, the warp and weft yarns are very tightly spun and woven (both 100% wool).

SELVAGE: The Side Selvage Cords are 100% intact, a twist of two, 2-ply grey wool yarns. The End Selvage Cords are 100% intact/present, a braid of three, 1-ply white wool yarns.

NO Moth nibbles/grazing/bug holes/bug damage, NO Fading, NO notable stains/staining, NO Fraying/Wear, and NO Bleeding. The corners are perfect, and the four corner ties are present (see pic. of 4 corners).

No odors, clean and ready to display.
