Move over John Marin. Here is a striking double-sided watercolor painting by Philadelphia Modernist William Corasick (1907-2002) who is well listed. Corasick studied at Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania. He belonged to th Philadelphia Art Alliance. The artist frequently exhibited at the Butler Art Institute, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and the National Academy of Design. His paintings can be found in the prestigious Museum of Fine Art (MFA) in New York. This watercolor painting truly is reminiscent of the landscapes of John Marin. The painting is on thick watercolor paper and measures 18" X 15". The landscape is signed in pencil at the lower right "Corasick". The painting on the reverse (see photo) is a still life but it is unsigned. This artist's works usually go for MUCH more than my minimum bid start price. |
