I have up for auction a early 1900's antique barber chair made by the EMIL J.PAIDER Company in Chicago, Illinois. It has been in our family for many, many years. It was in my fathers basement who was a part time barber. Now that he has passed on we would like to sell his chair to settle his estate.
As I said the chair is very old. But all the mechanics works fine. When pumping the handle the chair moves up. When extending the handle all the way forward the chair retracts down. When extending the handle out from the chair, it lays back properly. (see pictures) The chair rotates in either direction smoothly.
The chair is made of pretty white porcelain and cast iron. The back rest is padded black leather in front & back. (See pictures) The leg rest is also padded black leather. I must tell you it has no head rest, but the slot is there for one should you be able to find one. It has some minor scuffs and wear and one small tear on the seat. It is completely original with no modifications at all.
Please look at my pictures and should you have a question, please contact me. I am no expert but I will help if I can.
If you are considering this barber chair you will need to come pick it up at ZIP CODE # 61109 in northern Illinois. Its about 100 miles northwest of Chicago. Its about 300 miles northeast of St. Louis, MO. And about 75-80 miles southwest of Milwaukee, WI. I hope this helps. You must know that this chair is quite heavy and some what awkward to move and handle. It took three strong adult men to remove it from my fathers basement. It now sets in my garage now and will be accessible to your truck or trailer. You will need to have your help with strong backs with you when you pick it up. I cannot help or deliver with this chair. I cannot be responsible for any damage or injuries that may occur while picking up or the moving this chair. There is a small possibility I could have the chair delivered to you. But this would depend on your location, distance and help upon delivery. Of course there would be an addition cost that would have to be worked out. The best way would be for you to pick it up from me.
PayPal would be a great way to pay for this great old barber chair from days gone by. Thank you for looking. Good Luck !!!!!
