Selling a mid 70’s Motobecane Grand Record Frame and Fork. Made with Reynolds 531 butted tubing, and Nervex lugs, it’s a light, responsive, and beautiful frameset. Includes frame, fork, french thread bottom bracket, french thread headset, dropout adjuster screws.
This is being sold because it’s too big for me, it’s 63.5cm (25”) center to top. I finally found a Grand Record that fits me, sadly a silver one instead of this killer black/red/gold. So I moved the parts over to my new frame.
The dropouts are spaced about 128mm, it had a 6 speed rear but would take a 7 or you could even squeeze in an 8, 9, or 10 (130mm), it is a steel frame. It would make a nice fixed gear since in has no braze-ons except a derailleur hanger. I had it set up with the stock TA cyclotourist crank with 28 and 46 tooth rings, making a great randonneuring bike. However you set it up, it is a great handling bike.
As you can see by the pics this is a beautiful frame. There are a few chips, mainly the down tube where a bottle cage was mounted, and the chain stay, as well as a few random scratches. I guess it would be about an 8.5 out of 10. Look at the pics and draw your own conclusion.
I can only ship to the continental US (lower 48) and although I have used the UPS calculator it will be shipped FedEx because they seem to be more careful. Please ask any questions before bidding and good luck.
Edit: In response to questions, the top tube is 59cm center to center, the dropouts and fork ends are Campagnolo, and yes in the 4th picture the chainstay has about a 1-1/2 inch area where the paint is rubbed off (it was there when I got the bike, I never rode it in the wet, but it is a black area and should be an easy touch up. Thanks for the interest.
