It's tempting to call 2005's THE COOKBOOK a return to form for Missy Elliott, but the truth is that she's never stepped from the forefront of commercial hip-hop as a conceptualist, songwriter, and producer (with the help of her peerless collaborator Timbaland). The rise of new sounds and trends in hip-hop might lead fans to expect Elliott to drop off any day. Instead, she draws those new sounds and trends into her orbit here, putting together an album that is cutting-edge, classic, sexual, glamorous, and natural all at once. In addition to highlighting the flavors of the day (traces of electro, Miami bass, dancehall, and grime are identifiable), Elliott goes old-school with the help of Slick Rick (on the superb "Irresistible Delicious") and lays out drippingly sensual R&B balladry on "Meltdown." Timbaland adds his production wizardry to a couple of tracks here, but this outing is distinguished by its host of guest producers, especially Rhemario Webber on the pulse-quickening "We Run This" and Missy herself on "Lose Control," the album's ferociously bumping first single. THE COOKBOOK satisfies on every level, proof positive that the genre's reigning queen is far from losing her touch.

Editorial reviews
With Tim part-timing, Missy's left to fill in some beats on her own, adding a few producers who drop both true-school throwbacks and googly autoharps that conjure Bjork. - Grade: B-
Spin

3 stars out of 5 - R&B wins out, Missy flexing her voice and tuning the beats to an old-skool frequency....Her taste is faultless...
Uncut

3 discs out of 5 - On the album's most striking moment, 'Teary Eyed,' she injects gospel into a song that draws equally on R&B and New Orleans marching music.

Clearly marked as "PROMO"

This CD is from my private collection stored in a smoke-free environment. CD is in Near Mint condition with no visible flaws or defects. It is not a club issue or cut out. It is a promo. There are no saw marks or punched holes anywhere. I do not sell CD-Rs. I do not rate cases. If case is damaged, I replace it before selling item.

No returns on CDs.

Every effort is made to accurately and concisely specify and describe items being auctioned, as to their condition, age, and other characteristics. I try to be clear about the condition of items I sell. Please e-mail me with any concerns, questions, or issues that you might have before bidding on an item.

I am sorry, but I do not want CDs back and will not accept their return. If for some reason you are not satisfied, I will consider making an adjustment to assuage your concerns. Bidding on this auction and purchasing this item provides acknowledgement and acceptance of this policy.

Postage, Shipping, and Handling:

I mail all single CDs in a padded envelop via USPS First Class with Delivery Confirmation. My experience is that USPS Media Mail is slow, unreliable, and with delivery confirmation, costs about the same as or more than First Class – I’m not finding the meager savings worth the hassles.

For my international clients: I will mail all single CDs via USPS First Class @ $7.00 USD. I will ship anywhere in the world as long as I have a confirmed postal address.

Shipping for Canada is the same as the US.

Shipping for multiple purchases:

Ø I do not make any money off shipping and handling.

Ø I will combine purchases – even those over purchased over time, but shipped at the same time.

Considerations [general guidelines]:

Please visit USPS.com to help calculate a rough estimate of your shipping costs or contact me for a quote.

It is important that you request an invoice for multiple purchase as eBay does not handle this situation very well and will overcharge for shipping of multiple items.

For the US: First Class mail covers weights up to 13 oz. That is the equivalent of 2 or 3 single CDs – depends mostly on booklet weight. I can mail the extra 1 or 2 single CDs for an additional $1.00. For weights above 13 oz., I mail USPS Priority for $6.00, which provides for 4 to 6 single CDs. For more than 6 single CDs, please request a quote, but USPS Flat Rate box works well and the cost per single CD is fairly reasonable.

For International: USPS Global Priority covers up to 1 pound, which means I can ship up to 6 single CDs with cases for $13.00 USD (no extra cost). I ship all large box sets, and the like – including weights over 1 pound – via USPS Flat Rate box at $27.00, which handles up to 2 pounds or about 8 to 10 single CDs. I have had some international customers request that I send only the CDs and booklets [sans cases] to take advantage of the lower rates. So far, that has worked well.

Concern: I have had many exasperating experiences with USPS First Class for international shipping. Also, I have had many dismal experiences with the customs processing of many countries. Both situations elongate delivery times and lead to much frustration.

It would be prudent to combine purchases to lessen shipping costs. I will accommodate those wishing to take advantage of lower shipping costs for multiple purchases – please wait until you have completed your purchases and then request an invoice – all shipping adjustments made on invoice.

Insurance:

I cannot be financially responsible for lost or damage to an item during shipping if insurance is not purchased. Please add insurance if you are at all concerned, especially for more costly items. Please do not add insurance for inexpensive items, as it does not make good sense.

Please contact me with any issues, concerns, or thoughts before completing your purchase.

Feedback gladly provided for those that provide feedback for me.
