Vintage Book Measures: approximately: 65" x 67" (not even because the other sides measures about 70" x 67") The winning bidder of this HooDoo quilt will receive the name of the South Alabama African American woman who created it. Handpieced. Hand quilted. Original design of a Frog. The frog represents fertility so I assume the woman made a Frog quilt in hope of getting some grandyoungins! The batting is lightweight polyester batting. The quilting is rather crude and done in a maroon shade of thread, single strand. The lining is pieced of strips. A different white than the front, handpieced onto a green that matches the front and a cotton blend blue. The fabrics are all that stretchy polyester the 70's are known for with the exception of that blue on the back. No holes but there are a few areas of stains on the green. I believe they were on the fabric before it was made into a quilt due to how they look on different pieces. A fun extra to include with this quilt! A pair of pants! yes, how odd is that? In the goody box purchased with the quilt and other oddities were a pair of pants that are the SAME fabric as the green in the quilt. The pants are pull on type and were machine pieced. They are not finished because they have no hem and no elastic. To finish the pants they need to waist turned under to form the elastic casing, elastic put in and legs hemmed. Nothing grand just thought the new owner of the quilt would get a kick out of having the 'matching pants'! Also available this week: |
