Hello Ladies and Gents! What a splendid item I have here for your viewing enjoyment! A perfect Little Red Riding Hood Cook pottery pievent pie bird. It is perfect and free from any damage whatsoever. At this time I have on a collection of piebird vents so be sure and browse my other listings. What is a piebird? Well, that is a common asked question! You see, way back when, when most housewives stayed in the kitchen and made their own baked goods, this would have been used in pie baking. It would have been placed in the center of a pie to allow the steam to escape so as to not crack open the top of the pie, thus making it more presentable. So, in short, it just allowed for built up steam to escape from pies. Many people collect them today as a nostalgic piece of our past.
