Here we have a very rare 14.5 x19.25 inch SOBER UP counter-top-top display sign, circa about 1930-1950. Of a blue sky background with a woman standing upon the deck of a sailboat and in front of a life preserve (or a "life preserver/saver", as the ad implies).
Counter top display reads: "SOBER UP, IT'S A LIFE SAVER"
The lettering of SOBER-UP at the top of the display and the foot-tall bottle at the lower left hand corner, have both been lithographed on top of the background lithograph, to give them more of a three-dimensional look. Both also feel raised when touched. Both areas also have cracking in the overlay due to the age of the piece, but both are in good, stable condition.
NOTE TO BIDDERS: THIS SOBER-UP SIGN IS ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEED NOT TO BE A REPRODUCTION OF ANY KIND. THIS IS 100% GUARANTEED TO BE ANTIQUE, ORIGINAL & AUTHENTIC.
This sign shows some signs of wear and tear (see pictures for detailed shots) such as a bend lower right hand coner, some minor scrapes throghout and aoft edging, but the condition is very good for it's age and it is very rare to find one of these intact, let alone with the back support piece not falling off.
Marked bottom left hand corner number 7974 and lower right hand corner, (c) FAS MADE IN USA.
I WILL SHIP THIS FOR $24 ANYWHERE IN THE USA. OUTSIDE THE USA, INTERNATIONAL COSTS APPLY.
QUESTIONS? ASK BEFORE BIDDING, NOT AFTER. YOUR BID IS A CONTRACT TO PURCHASE THE ITEM. TERMS: PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THE TERMS OF THIS AUCTION. WINNING BIDDER MUST PAY WITHIN TEN DAYS OF CLOSE OF AUCTION.
SHIPPING: shipping is NOT NEGOTIABLE per item. However, if you buy multiple items, I will combine shipping costs to save you money in such instances when AND ONLY WHEN items can be packed safely in the same package without adding extra risk of damage to the enclosed items. While we do pack our items extremely well and we haven't lost an item due to damage yet, just the same, we cannot be liable for items damaged in the shipping process which are not insured by the winning bidder. Therefore, we recommend purchasing insurance. It is available at $1.30 per $50 through the US postal office and must be added by the buyer into the cost of the item purchase when paying via paypal. We are not liable if you not insure it, so please insure it! ALL SALES ARE CONSIDERED FINAL, with the exception of any auction involving serious problems with said item(s), arising from serious errors in item description. An example of this would be me saying in an auction description it was a lamp made or signed by Louis Comfort Tiffany and in fact it turned out to be a copy of a Tiffany Lamp. In this case, you would get your money back. On the other hand, if I said it was "in the manner of Tiffany," or "after," or "like" or "it reminds me of" or "attributed to" etc....this does not imply at all that it is in fact by L. C. Tiffany or that I have paperwork/documentation showing it is, and is therefore not dishonest or misleading and therefore not refundable. While we do our best to be completely honest and photograph and describe everything very accurately, sometimes we miss something. You should know that light scratches, small dings or dents or tears, foxing, staining or other age related flaws do occur in or on collectibles or antiques sometimes as they were used objects often generations ago and are therefore not perfect and such is not considered serious damage, unless the item was described as "perfect" in item description or was said to be free of those defects as mentioned in the item description. Please keep in mind we generally strive to buy the highest quality items we can to avoid selling items with serious flaws to keep everybody happy. Generally speaking, you will not find items with serious damage I.E., major cracks, large rips or tears (over 3 inches in length or width), big chips (being above 1/2 inch long or wide), or an item which is missing more than 15% of it's body, etc. being sold here, UNLESS the item is thought to be one of a kind or rare, even in it's seriously damaged state. soldasis Any concerns must be brought to our attention within 24 hours of receipt of item or again, sale is considered final. I do not guarantee originality on an item unless I state that it is guaranteed to be original or antique. That is only fair. Bidder remorse is not considered a valid reason for item returns.
NON PAYING BIDDERS WILL RECEIVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. I take PAYPAL!
DUE TO RECENT FRAUD ON THE PART OF BUYERS, WE NOW MUST REQUIRE (SORRY) THAT ALL eCHECKS ARE HELD 10 DAYS AND MUST CLEAR MY BANK BEFORE THE ITEM IS SHIPPED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
