Neutral Red (Grumbacher Red & Winsor Red are but two) is the red you expected to get when you bought the other bright reds.  The outstanding characteristic of neutral red is that it never changes its pure red hue in admixture with white.  Despite the amounts of white mixed with it, neutral red does not veer toward blue or yellow, as all othere reds do.  To illustrate this unique asset, Helen uses neutral red in this video to paint an apple; it appears in a composition with two books.

In the sements that follow, Yellow Ochre’s beautiful mid-value yellow is used to paint wicker bottles.  Helen shows you her procedure to successfully paint wicker; a procedure you can also use to paint all similar textures.

In the final section, the old oaken bucket is featured as a subject matter to show off the benefits of Raw Sienna.  Although it seems to be very much like its earth color neighbor – Yellow Ochre – enough differences are pointed out for you to make it a must on your palette of colors!
