Being offered on this auction is boy
figurine made by Bing & Grøndahl of Copenhagen,
Denmark. This is B&G Figurine # 1759. It is called
‘Tiny Tot’. It features adorable boy in white sport shirt trying to zip or
button his sport shorts in wide blue stripes. He is truly in trouble doing
this. Sculpture stands on flat pedestal. Looks splendid. Artist Michaela
Ahlmann designed this figurine. She is known for her adorable children
sculptures. Her best known are ‘Good Morning, Mama - Girl In Nightgown’,
‘Please Help, Mummy - Boy With Shoe’, ‘Boy Playing Trumpet’ (we have them
on one of our auctions now).
Bing & Grondahl (B&G) was
founded in 1853 and existed until 1987, when Royal Copenhagen merged with
Bing and Grondahl. B & G, Bing & Grondahl refer to the founders:
Fred. Vilh. Grøndahl (1819-1856), technical director; the brothers M.H.
Bing (1819 - 1883) and J.H. Bing (1811 -1896) as economical directors. This
figurine is marked with three towers in green. This hallmark comes from the
City Coat of Arms of Copenhagen. ‘B&G’ printed below the tower in
green, ‘Kjøbenhavn’ printed in green semi-circle and ‘Made in Denmark’
identify production of 1952-1957. There
are also ‘B&G’ printed in blue and code ‘1759’ as well as production
painter initials ‘SV’ in green. We do not know the name of this artist.
This figurine is fully discontinued now.
Figurine measures about 2 1/8” x 1 5/8”
on the base and stands 6” tall. Condition is immaculate with no chips or
cracks found. Colors are bright and vibrant. Please look at the pictures in
