Santalum album, known as Sandalwood or White Sandalwood, is one of the important sources of sandalwood and sandalwood oil used in perfumery and medicine. The valued wood is used in cabinetry, chests and boxes and has a very fragrant aroma.

It is a small attractive evergreen tree to 6 metres, with slender drooping branches and 5cm oval leaves and small panicles of yellow flowers turning to red.

The sapwood is white and odourless, the heartwood yellowish brown and strongly scented.

NOTE: Santalum album is a hemi-parasite, which means that it must parasitise the roots of other plants to be successful. It preferrs to be grown alongside leguminous plants such as Acacias, Casuarinas or any other leguminous tree or shrub.

For sale is a packet of 10 fresh seeds.

ALL SEED PACKAGES COME WITH A SET OF SEED PROPAGATION INSTRUCTIONS.
