Jerry Schoenith Hydroplane Racing Gale V  Memorabilia 2

Hi, I am Jerry Schoenith:

All memorabilia I add to e-bay’s on-line auction are authentic, some very rare or never been listed. Most importantly, none of the memorabilia is low-end merchandise because what they mean to me in addition to the human cost it took to acquire these items by the Schoenith family.

Unlimited Hydroplane BIO

The 1964 unlimited hydroplane “Rookie Driver of the Year” driving the Gale V.

Throughout my career, I also drove the first Roostertail, U44, and the new Gale’s Roostertail U-44 (1) and the new (2) Gale’s Roostertail a 36’, 13,000 lb twin Allison unlimited developing 6,000 h.p. In addition to test-driving the Miss Smirnoff, U-80, and drove after the 1983 season the Miss Renault elf, U-3, on the Tri-Cities, Washington racecourse.

I am the owner of the Miss Renault elf, that became the last piston powered unlimited hydroplane to win the UIM APBA World Championship. Not since the famous Gar Wood with his fleet of Miss Americas’ has, an unlimited competed against boats from five countries. In 1983 driver E. Milner Irvin III out lasted 16 powerboats from the USA, Canada, France, Italy, and Australia to become World Champion. The French Automotive manufacture and elf oil sponsored the U-3.

In 1987 I founded the first and only independent division of APBA to register Unlimited Hydroplane powered by the U.S auto manufactures. The boats’ design followed the same rules as the turbine Unlimited Hydroplanes.

The Schoenith family story in part is on the mydetroitstory.com web site.

Jerry Schoenith Hydroplane Racing Gale V Memorabilia 2

"Doing the Roostertail" and on the flip side "U-44" are known as boat racing first Rock and Roll record. The 45 is new out of the box it came in. "Doing the Roostertail" was a dance that the customers of the famous Upperdeck Rock Club, located on top of the Roostertail, created during the boat races. “U-44” tells the story of a young driver (Jerry Schoenith) driving his new Gale’s Roostertail. These quirky parts of the 1965, racing season history was on the bottom of a box of race articles. They are in the same paper sleeve and never been played.

The Roostertail is located on the Detroit River’s Gold Cup racecourse. In the complex's lower level Jerry Schoenith booked such Las Vegas superstars as Tony Bennett, Wayne Newton, Diana Ross, Bobby Darin, Peggy Lee, The Temptations, Les Paul, Paul Anka, and even the 1948 Gold Cup winning driver Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians Big Band just to name a few.

Showcased in the Upperdeck were the biggest names in Rock for the 21 to 29 year old demographics. Some of the legendary star names were The Four Tops, Bob Segar, Steve Wonder, Alice Cooper, the Supremes, Ted Nugent, Marvin Gaye as well as Paul Revere, Tommy James, Bill Haley, the Everly Brothers, and Eric Clapton.

I will autograph all items with a Sharpie Fine Point on the back or front with your designated name and with special salutation.

Thank you for your consideration, Jerry Schoenith
