 FRUIT / DESSERT / SAUCE BOWL  -   5 3/8" DIA.

The IVY PATTERN is one of the most successful FRANCISCAN lines on a thicker, embossed earthenware body. You will see HAND APPLIED BRUSH STROKES in the decoration. FRANCISCAN added IVY to their family of HANDPAINTED, RAISED PATTERN DINNERWARE in late 1948. It was only the fourth handpainted pattern introduced. Franciscan's only direct customer for IVY was Joseph P. Kennedy. For years IVY pattern dinnerware was shipped directly to his Florida home. FRANCISCAN IVY was last manufactured in 1983. The circle BACKSTAMP shown was used from February 1953 until July 1958.

Early IVY has a dark green stripe/band on the top of the handles of the teapot, along the drinking edge of tumblers, and on the rim and edge of other pieces. In later production, this stripe is not applied. Hand painted with Ivy leaves and vines of two shades of green intertwined, this FRANCISCAN IVY dinnerware is as fresh today as it was when produced in the mid-fifties.

 THIS PIECE OF DINNERWARE WAS PART OF AN ESTATE SALE, HARDLY USED AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, SHOWS NO SIGNS OF WEAR.
