All of the equipment is previously used and has been fully tested and found to be in good working order. All of the radios include a battery, antenna and belt clip. All batteries are fully charged and tested before shipping and are included in our 14-day return warranty. All radios are tested multiple times before being shipped.
The radios were previously used by a national retail chain, mostly indoors. Any engraving or identifying marks left by the previous owner have been removed, and we have attached a writeable, weatherproof label. The equipment shows some signs of use (light scratches and scuff marks mostly), but nothing which affects performance.
The radios have been tested for interoperability and power output, and once they have been purchased, we will recharge and retest all units before shipping. All sets of radios are tested and guaranteed to work together.

FEATURES
Batteries
The sealed rechargeable NiCd battery pack slides on quickly and easily to the radio. This means that you don’t have to contend with cumbersome latches and there are no battery compartment lids to lose or break. Charging a radio with battery installed or a spare battery pack is a simple drop-in task with the supplied charger. The spring belt-clip mounts directly to the body chassis
NOTE: Performance figures are for batteries when new: used batteries’ actual performance may differ. We DO test and recondition all batteries on a reconditioning charger and confirm that all batteries hold a charge overnight. The batteries are used NiCads which have been tested to hold a charge at least 24 hours. Being NiCads, they are subject to memory effect and will not have the same capacity or life expectancy as new. You should plan on replacing the batteries within the first year. We can provide NEW aftermarket batteries for $25 each.
As delivered, the radios use MURS frequencies, which do not require licensing. We also offer Custom Programming at no charge.
Compatibility
ProTalk operates on the same channels and coded squelch tones as other brands of on-site business radios. So choosing the rugged Kenwood ProTalk will not make your investment in existing radio equipment obsolete.
4 Programmable Pre-stored Frequencies
As delivered, these radios will be coded to MURS LICENSE-FREE frequencies as follows: -
Channel 1: 154.6000 MHz
Channel 2: 154.5700 MHz
The ProTalk VHF (TK-2100) model has four pre-stored frequencies.
Users can change a ProTalk to any of the pre-stored frequencies, but this may require licensing.
The pre-stored frequencies can be changed with our Custom Programming Service.
2 Watts Transmit Power/Range Up to 5 Miles
The ProTalk offers 2 watts of power to enable direct radio-to-radio communication on the same frequency (simplex) for up to 5 miles under ideal conditions.
The actual range of the ProTalk will vary depending on terrain, obstructions and other conditions. The Antenna which comes with the radio is a 4" medium. The previous owners used them because they made the radios more compact. We also sell brand new 6" antennas for this radio for $5 each, which will help you get the best possible range in any environment.
38 Programmable Privacy Codes per Channel
The Kenwood QT coded squelch system provides the industry-standard 38 codes for blocking out unwanted interference from other users. These codes can also be used to separate the conversations of various work groups within your company to eliminate confusion and wasteful employee chatter. Users can program a ProTalk to any of the other pre-stored codes (each ProTalk is factory programmed for Code No.1, 67.0 Hz, but this can be changed with our custom programming service).

BUILT FOR THE TOUGH JOBS
The aluminum die-cast chassis provides exceptional strength for rough handling that, when combined with a rugged and sealed case design, enable the ProTalk to provide years of reliable use. The ProTalk , as well as being extremely durable, is also conveniently sized. Carry the ProTalk in your pocket or on a belt and you’ll hardly notice it because it’s so small and lightweight (approximately 11 oz. and 5 inches in height).
SIMPLE OPERATION/RUGGED CONTROLS
Simply turn it on and push to talk. Each ProTalk has an on/off power and volume setting knob to adjust audio to a comfortable listening level. A monitor button is also provided to check coded squelch channels for voice activity. Channel Selection is by a toggle switch on top of the radio. For added convenience, the two-color LED indicator lights red for transmit and green for an active channel.

Unless you choose Custom Programming, all of the TK2100 one and two channel radios we sell are programmed to MURS (Multi User Radio Service) frequencies 154.6000 MHz and 154.5700 MHz. Full details on MURS can be found at the FCC website here
What does that mean to you? It means that as long as you do not change the frequencies on the radios, you can use them LICENSE-FREE. If you need secure communications, you can use the Kenwood QT feature to choose from 38 Programmable Privacy Codes, without changing frequencies and still without license fees.
Customer is responsible for all appropriate licensing.
BEWARE OF IMITATIONS
Please don’t confuse these radios with the blister-pack FRS or GMRS units you see at the checkout at the local Mega-Mart. These Kenwood TK2100s are professional grade radios; they are much more powerful (2W vs. 0.5 W for FRS), much harder wearing and with Kenwood’s QT coded squelch system, far less prone to interference than the cheap units.
As for claims of 7, 10 or 15 miles from the supermarket radios. Time and again, people tell us the blister-pack radios fail to live up to their promises in the real world. Every site where radios are used is unique and all kinds of environmental factors will affect range and performance.
RANGE
The broadcast range figures we quote for our radios are realistic maximums under real world conditions. If we are not convinced that one of our used radios will provide performance very close to that of a new unit, we will not even offer it for sale.
