This is a very nice 1952 copy of "The New Modern Encyclopedia" WM. H. Wise & Co., INC. New York. The Hard Leatherette Cover is in nice condition and there is spine separation starting inside back cover. The 1494 pages include subjects like "ABATTOIR", "CHURCHING OF WOMEN", "ECBATANA", "JINN", "THE MABINOGION", "OSTEND MANIFESTO", "ST. VITUS'S DANCE", "SIN EATING", "TYMPANUM", "WHITE, PEREGRINE" & "ZUIDERZEE" also there are approx. 81 maps throughout the book. It is called an encyclopedia but the lay-out is similar to a Dictionary. Great for the coffee table, this book is full of interesting snippets of history and fun facts. Please Note: For this Auction item if payment is not received by JULY 31,2010 it will NOT be shipped until after August 11,2010. I will be out of town. Thank-you in advance. This is a previously owned item, and since I don't know proper cleaning techniques for older items I prefer to leave that to the purchaser. I do not claim to be an expert on items I have for sale.
