A very beautiful set indeed! The right proportions, the right materials, the right craftsmanship. Just Fantastic!
We are very pleased to offer you this lovely vintage dining room suite comprised of a table, six chairs, buffet, and sideboard. Both the buffet and sideboard are adorned with over an inch thick solid marble slabs with beveled edges. Just about every surface is permeated with perfuse inlays of exotic burl woods. Each piece undulates with soft curves reminiscent of Louis XIV styling. This is a lavish, highest quality service. Each piece of glass is beveled. The
marble is first rate with rich veins and several areas display a beautiful purple deposit. I believe that it is Italian in origin, though possibly French or Dutch.
Measurements:
Table, 55" long x 39" wide. 30.75" tall.
Buffet, 60" x 22", 42.5" tall
Sideboard (with gallery), 67" x 24", 67" tall
Overall, this set displays extremely well. Although, keep in mind this is a vintage set, there are some nicks, scratches, bruises, etc. If you need absolute perfection, you will need to have a few pieces of this gone over, or have a similar set imported in from Europe (if you can locate one of this quality) and be prepared to pay $20,000+ by the time that it arrives. I'm not mocking, I'm being quite serious. The table top is fair but there are some dull spots and minor
scratches. The marble tops are pretty good, though could stand a polishing to remove minor scratches and bring back a nice gloss finish. The table base has small splits at the tops of two of the corners, the table is very solid and does not "wobble". A chair has been fortified with corner braces as it had loosened up, I'm a 6'1" male who weighs 180 pounds, I can sit upright in it without any qualms, though I certainly would not recommend anyone to shift their weight all the
way back in a leaning or reclining motion with it. It is missing one escutcheon (decorative piece that surrounds the keyhole) on the sideboard, the other escutcheon was removed to correct symmetry. Two of the pendant pulls have broken off of the buffet, both are present, but will need some type of mending for replacement. Most of these things are of the class that you have to be "looking" for them to notice.
An interesting note to the table is that it does have the capacity to except leaves. No leaves were present when we acquired this set, but you may be able to have something fabricated. Each end pulls out to reveal an integrated leg mechanism that will fold down for extra support. Will add quite a bit of seating area. Quite clever.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate.
Note: This will be an expensive set to ship, each piece of marble is probably 200+ pounds on their own. But if your planning on living with furniture for the next 10, 20, or 30 years, shouldn't it be something utterly gorgeous and as magnificent as this set?
