Navajo (NAH'-VAH-HO)
The Navajo silversmiths are traditionally known for their intricate design with attention to detail. Historical records show the Navajo as silversmith's as early as the 1700's.
Although the beautiful gem stones are a very important part of the jewelry made by Navajo silversmiths, the Navajo's focus is mostly on the ornate detailed designs made with the silver. Over several generations their skills, talents and designs have developed into an art form all their own.
Indian jewelry Artists have always used a full range of colors in turquoise, sometimes seeking the unusual stone for inspiration and other times looking for a specific type of turquoise to compliment the silver design.
The Navajo Nation is the largest of the Indian Reservations and is located in the northeast corner of Arizona with a portion of the reservation extending into Utah and the northwest corner of New Mexico.

~Cleaning Turquoise Jewelry~
Use caution when caring for and cleaning turquoise jewelry. Turquoise is a beautiful stone that is porous so preventative care should include avoiding grease, oil or any other harsh chemicals. When cleaning turquoise jewelry, use a very soft and slightly damp cloth only. Do not submerge your jewelry into water; use any ultrasonic cleaners, chemicals or even soap. Polish any silver on the piece with caution. A polishing cloth is a safe way to go.
Avoid putting your turquoise jewelry in extreme temperatures or sunlight for long periods of time. This can alter the stone's color. When storing your turquoise jewelry, it is best to keep it away from any hard gemstones so it does not get scratched. Follow these simple steps so extend the live of your jewelry for years to come!
Today most Sterling silver objects are usually stamped with either the word "Sterling" or ".925". But a great majority of the older Native American handcrafted jewelry was unsigned and unmarked.

I WILL DESCRIBE THESE ITEMS AS ACCURATELY AS I CAN. MOST OF THE ITEMS I SELL ARE DEAD PAWN, AND NOT BRAND NEW.
WILL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE.
~WHAT IS DEAD PAWN?~
For the Southwestern Native American, pawn refers to the practice of converting art and possessions into income for life's necessities. Pawn can also be items from antiquity, heirloom pieces of handmade jewelry or craft, passed from a family into the public marketplace. Because much of the pawned merchandise is of real day-to-day value in the seller's life, the percentage of pawn that goes unredeemed is small, about five percent. Merchandise that remains for sale in a pawn shop after loan expiration is referred to as "dead pawn," and items of dead pawn are among the most highly valued Native American artifacts to be found on the open market. Some pieces of dead pawn are old; other pieces are NEW and have been pawned by others. It is difficult to tell the age of a piece of jewelry, but some indicators are "wear and tear," evidence of continued previous polishing, the style of the setting, or style of the piece itself, the type of stone or material used in the settings.
BESTOFFERDEALS take pride in offering our customers 100% authentic Native American made jewelry. The Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990 states that "it is illegal to offer or display for sale, or sell any art or craft product in a manner that falsely suggests it is Indian produced, an Indian product, or the product of a particular Indian tribe." Each and every one of our beautiful offerings is in full compliance with this Act.
