Synopsis
Murders both past and present could derail a political campaign in this second thriller from author David Ellis. In 1979, first-person narrator Jon Soliday and his friend Grant Tully attended a drunken party. Soliday had sex with a young woman there who was later found dead. Soliday remembers little of that night, and Tully's father helped clear him of murder charges. In 2000, Tully is a state senator running for governor, and Soliday is his legal counsel. Tully sends Soliday to meet with lawyer Dale Garrison on a campaign-related matter; Garrison is found dead shortly thereafter and all evidence points to Soliday. Could the present-day crime be linked to the earlier murder? And just how reliable is the narrator, anyway?
