This listing is for a rare, unique opportunity to own a piece of Masonic history from the estate of a former Brother. A chance to own something like this does not come along often. It is a historical 9.5" x 11.5" binder started by W. Henry J. Heidorn, Master 1926, Historian 1927-1933. His photo is included in this binder. I believe the Lodge was located at Masonic Hall, 50 W. 24th Street, NY. Title page is dated 1927. Preamble in the binder is dated December 11, 1929 and reads:
"By grace of the appointment of W. Robert E. Maddox, 1929 Master of Naval Lodge, No. 69, F.&A.M., New York, the present Historian has begun a composition of the annals of this lodge commencing at the point where our first active and inimitable Historian, R. W. John A. Kershaw, concluded the Record covering the first 100 years of our existence. Compiliation of the data to prepare this continuation of our History was started immediately after the grand 2-day Celebration in 1926 under the jurisdiction of the undersigned who was Worshipful Master then, which was such a fitting and splendid climax commemorating the One Hundredth Anniversary of the birth of our dear Lodge. (more paragraphs)......Each Worshipful Master should arrange to supply the Historian with a good portrait photograph of himself to be attached to each year's Record. From time to time as events of particular interest are registered by camera, the resulting pictures should also be made part of the Record, so that the Historians of the future will not want for illustrations to supplement the written descriptive matter. Respectfully submitted, W. Henry J. Heidorn, Historian"
Many documents are included with this listing - a fun collectible to read and keep for years. This list highlights the main pieces of paper, including a very interesting 1949 shooting in New York City by a Mason who was sent to a mental hospital then corresponded with the Lodge and Grand Lodge for help. Includes original newspaper article about the shooting with photo of the Mason. This is really fascinating stuff !!!
