Very rare and extremely beautiful Bavaria porcelain portrait bowl by Johann Seltmann, circa 1910, with an amazing hand painted art nouveau lady reaching out to touch the lilies with long flowing hair in a sheer blue gown. A masterful work of art by the painter. The outer scalloped edge is done in an irridescent tiffany purple with irridescent "jewels" between each scallop and an art nouveau iris. Condition is superb, with no cracks, chips or repairs. Some minor factory paint flaws on the outside. Bowl measures 10 1/2" across the center, and the portrait itself is about 6 1/2". The colors are fresh and free of scratches. If you love the art nouveau, don't miss this one. Very rare to find this genre of art nouveau painting in this condition. This came out of a San Francisco estate where the estimated value was $550 to $750.... my reserve is under $295. Shipping by Priority Mail with free insurance and delivery confirmation. Payment is due within 5 days end of auction by Paypal only. |
