Here is a pair of Leitz Trinovid binoculars, spec 8x32 in the original hard leather case. The body is near mint, and the glass is like new. For some, this paragraph will be largely ignored, because =Buy It Now will loom large and urgently for those persons who realize that a pair of these in this condition crops up no more than once or twice a year. This isn't that cute pair with the prism roofs that betray tarnished silver when you inspect them a couple of weeks after purchase. It's a the pair you want to own because you cannot do better. For those of you who aren't completely familiar with Leitz Trinovids, or with Leitz in general, Leitz Trinovids are the original Leica roof prism binoculars, and probably the handiest roof prism binoculars ever made. They are lighter, more compact, more durable and have a wider field of view than anything on the market today. These things are largely due to the unique and labor intensive Uppendahl triple prism system subsequently abandoned in favor of the cheaper Schmidt-Pechan system found in most current binoculars. You might say the Uppendahl was Leitz's answer to the Zeiss proprietary Abbe-Koenig prism. Leitz roof prisms entered the market with a bang that included the Amplivid of 1956. Leitz binoculars in the twentieth century were characterized by lightweight construction and the right stuff. For example, the Mardocit Leitz was spec 12x60. And that is certainly the right stuff for the plains hunter or safari viewer as it delivers the max handholdable magnification and nearly all the brightness you need in a reasonable package. And while it is true that Zeiss porros of all vintages were higher quality, if less well thought out, with roof prism binoculars, the quality level becomes equivalent, but the less well thought out Zeiss binoculars fall by the wayside, being heavier and bulkier with virtually no optical gain over the Leitz Trinovid: which is true to this very day. The Leitz Trinovid is still the choice of many experts who want a robust and optically superb binocular they can stuff into a jacket pocket without getting a neck ache or heading over to the tailor for repairs. Here we have a small package that gets the job done better than most of what you'll find on today's expensive store shelves. The 8x32 specification has always been a specialty of Leitz. They seem to make a better 8x32 than anybody else. *2 weeks money back no questions! Click here View seller's other items to see my other auctions and listings for ultra premium binoculars.
