Innocent Bystander, Farrar & Rinehart, 1932, 312pp.; Something Special, Farrar & Rinehart, 1940, 293pp.; Washington U.S.A., Farrar & Rinehart, 1943, 369pp.; Rehearsal for Love, Triangle Books, 1946, 279pp., reprint; and Time and the Hour, Holt, Winston, & Rinehart, 1974, 242pp. Innocent Bystander has minor rubbing to board edges, offsetting to endpapers, in a dust jacket with chips at ends of spine and front cover near fold over, spine soiled. Something Special has water damage to triangular area of bottom board near spine, tail of spine, foxing to endpapers, in a dust jacket with water stain to tail of spine and area of bottom cover, nicks at ends of spine. Washington U.S.A. has some dings to board edges, water spot to top edge, minor soiling to front pastedown, name on ffe, pencil writing on rear pastedown, in a dust jacket with small chips at ends of spine, water stain to head of bottom cover, small tear at lower corner of front cover. Time and the Hour has a couple of short gouges to top board, minor creasing to dust jacket and sticker residue. All told, minor defects to these romances which are uncommon in first editions with prices intact on dust jackets. Baldwin was a prolific writer of more than 90 romances. Time and the Hour was published when she was 80 years old. |
