Franklin Mint 1:24 1967 Corvette "Clear Cast" Edition

n the tradition of FM's 1963 Fiberglass Corvette, you immediately notice the light weight of this model. The entire replica is cast in a clear plastic acrylic. It closely mirrors the diecast 1967 black Stingray with very minor differences. The Blue Streak tires are replaced with whitewalls, the "427" script on the hood is more to scale, the door sill moldings are wider and the hood scoop is functional. You can more easily see the air filter-ring in the hood. The sides of the floor console are the correct black, not chrome. The de-clutching fan on the mammoth motor still turns and the suspension is still static. The hard top is included and it too, is clear on the driver's side. The only part not subjected to clear casting is the front valance beneath the bumper. The marvel of the model is the insight FM had in doing it at all. Examining the lustrously painted passenger's side of the car, you wonder if the previous version shouldn't have been this color. It highlights the slinky features of the sleek roadster dramatically. You almost wish the entire car was this red! But as you take in the transparent side, you are continually amazed at what is to be found beneath the Stingray's plastic skin. This FM endeavor is CLEARLY unique and wonderfully eye-catching.
